Isabel’s top novice award

Isabel Williams, aged 19, daughter of Evan and Cath Williams of Llancarfan, has won the South Wales and Monmouthshire Area award which goes to the top female novice rider during the season just ended.

She will be presented with her trophy at the South Wales and Monmouthshire Dinner/Dance and Awards Evening at the Holiday Hotel, Newport, on July 1.

Cowbridge’s Byron Moorcroft, aged 36, has won the Bill Jones Memorial Trophy and Bridgend builder Roger Willcox has won the Champion Llangeinor/Pentyrch with his six-year-old brown gelding January Don.

The following awards will be presented during the evening:

Welsh Champion - Men (D.R.Thomas Perpetual Trophy) South Wales and Monmouthshire - James Bowen; Welsh Champion - Ladies ( B.Thomas Perpetual Trophy ) South Wales & Monmouthshire - Jodie Hughes; Bill Jones Memorial Trophy South Wales & Monmouthsire - Byron Moorcroft; South and West Wales Novice Rider - James Bowen; South Wales and Monmouthshire Area Novice Rider- Isabel Williams; Champion Horse (Spillers Pepetual Trophy, most wins in south Wales and west Wales) -Michael Bowen’s Sir Du Bearn; Champion Mare (Elfyn David Memorial Trophy) Keith Pritchard’s Watch The Birdie; Maiden Horse (George Williams Memorial trophy) John Rees’s Ruperra Tom; Champion Older Horse (Lord Charles Trophy) Mike Bassett & Keiron Price’s Really Unique; Champion Llangeinor /Pentyrch Qualified Horse - Roger Willcox’s January Don.
