Barry tennis ladies on verge of glory!

It was another busy weekend at Barry Community Tennis Club, and after a week of disruption due to high winds and heavy rain, it was great to have lots of action on the courts again.

The new Tots tennis session was well received at 9.15am on Saturday, and followed by the usual busy juniors, minis and adult beginners sessions, before the 9u team hosted Cowbridge LTC for an Aegon Team Tennis fixture.

This was a nailbiting fixture, which saw five of the 10 rubbers going to a deciding third set, but despite battling hard, the home team lost 4-6 overall.

On Sunday, the youngest of the teams, the under-8s, hosted sister club Penarth LTC, and despite great sportsmanship, there were no wins for the home team, but everyone enjoyed the matches and the post-match picnic in Romilly Park.

In the afternoon, the ladies team went to another sister club, Llantwit Major Tennis Club for the return fixture in the ladies summer doubles league, and in somewhat blustery conditions, the Barry CTC ladies secured a 4-0 victory.

With only two fixtures left in the division, and having won three of the four games played so far, the race is on to see if Barry CTC can secure the division title.
