The final of three vintage newsreels - one from British Movietone and two from British Pathé - features aerial footage of the wrecked Liberty Ship SS Samtampa at Sker Point.

The short film also includes HMS Warspite.

Commissioned in 1915, Warspite served with distinction in both the Great War and the Second World War before being decommissioned in 1945.

Her battle honours include: Jutland (1916); Atlantic (1939); Narvik (1940); Mediterranean (1940-41-43); Malta Convoys (1941); Crete (1941); Sicily (1943); and Normandy (1944).

She ran aground at Prussia Cove in south-west Cornwall in mid-April 1947 en route to Faslane to be scrapped.

Her skeleton crew was rescued by a lifeboat from Penlee Lifeboat Station.

In December 1981, another Penlee lifeboat, the Solomon Browne, was lost with all hands as she went to the rescue of the crew of the MV Union Star off Lamorna.

All hands on the Union Star also perished.
